Platform / DevOps / MLOps engineer (SDE II). I write the Python services, pipelines and Kubernetes clusters behind a production computer-vision platform: 50+ GPU nodes and 2,000+ cameras for a Saudi municipality, plus air-gapped government clusters with no internet egress. Some recent work:

- Cut a 55h model-training run to 5h by moving training to PyTorch DDP on on-demand k8s Jobs (pause/resume, MLflow, Kafka progress events).

- Found that every meeting-recording bot pod was pinned to a single node by a ReadWriteOnce volume plus a required podAffinity. Bots now record locally and the API streams recordings out as a tar over the k8s exec channel, so they spread across all workers.

- Caught a checked-in manifest that would have deleted 22 live production secrets, shipped a strategic-merge patch instead and reconciled the repo to zero drift.

- Took full platform setup from 3 days to 20 minutes, and built Vault-backed, approval-gated CI/CD that saves a client SAR 300K/yr.

I've spent the last eleven years building ApptentiveKit, an iOS SDK for in-app customer feedback (surveys, message center, prompts) that ships inside other companies' apps. SDK work means caring about things app developers often get to skip: a small binary footprint, long deployment-target support, a public API you can't easily change, and bugs that only appear in someone else's app. I also maintained our React Native, Flutter, Capacitor, and Cordova plugins, so I'm comfortable on either side of a bridge.

The piece I'm proudest of is the on-device targeting engine, which decides which customers see which interactions based on server-defined criteria. I've implemented it four times: NSPredicate, then raw Objective-C for observability, then JavaScript (which became the core of our Web SDK), and finally Swift. I've also worked closely with product and design on ground-up redesigns of major features.

Before iOS I did web backends for about a decade, and before that embedded software for EV battery management and fast charging at AeroVironment. I still tinker with hardware: motor controllers, VESC/LispBM, and a power-assist wheelbarrow prototype. I'd especially enjoy a role where an app talks to a physical device.

Hi! I build Python and TypeScript backends and the tooling around them, and I try to measure whether what I ship works.

DiffContext (https://pypi.org/project/diffcontext/) is a context-selection library for code LLMs. It cuts the context a model reads by a median 89% across 9 repos and 701 commits, and raised pass@1 from 5.5% to 25.8% on 128 tasks. It ships as a CLI and MCP server with 358 tests in CI, and I published a self-audit that retracted three of my own earlier claims.

Open source, every fix with tests: merged in Comet Opik (streaming wrappers were swallowing exceptions) and facebook/astryx (focus-trap bug). In review: apache/superset (approved), kubeflow/mcp-server (FastMCP 4 upgrade), bitcoindevkit/bdk_wallet (Rust, relative locktimes), and a Java/ClickHouse change in Opik. I also review PostgreSQL patches on CommitFest.

Before that: React front ends on Django REST and FastAPI back ends over PostgreSQL (cut API response times 35%), and FastAPI model serving at 150 req/s. Now building Python environments that AI agents are evaluated in.

I build self-service kiosks and the POS systems next to them. Real machines, bolted to a shop floor, kicked by customers, unplugged by the cleaner, on whatever internet the landlord is paying for. When a release goes wrong there, nobody types git revert. Somebody gets in a car.

So most of my work is the unglamorous half. Provisioning that takes a device from cardboard box to live fleet with nobody touching a keyboard. OTA updates that can lose power mid-flash and still boot. One codebase that satisfies several certifiers, because the alternative is a fork per market and death by cherry-pick.

The day job for the last few years: ~12 engineers across backend, frontend and QA, most of them hired by me, all of their PRs still read by me. I also built the team's Claude Code setup — CLAUDE.md hierarchies, MCP servers for Jira/GitHub and codebase search, fan-out review with parallel subagents — and got twelve people to actually use it, which was the harder engineering problem.

My most recent large project was to train audio localization models to detect and locate fast FPV drones (30m/s) in “realtime”. I handled dataset design and field collection, model architecture and training, and tools for testing, debugging, and visualizing all the things—the full experience. This was deployed on Nvidia jetson devices, with 3ms inference latency, with a high degree of accuracy even in new locations in a few months time.

I’m interested in applying that mix of ML and systems work beyond audio (or to audio!): getting a first model working, building training infrastructure, or making training and inference faster. Currently Lead Platform Engineer at a security AI startup where I built the platform team from scratch (0 to 5 engineers) and architected multi-tenant Kubernetes infrastructure across 40+ clusters with per-tenant KMS encryption and Argo-based progressive delivery.

I have worked for years in open source software development. I created and ran two notable open source projects: Lita, a ChatOps framework for Ruby (https://github.com/litaio/lita) which is used by many companies for automating internal operations and workflows, and Ruma, an implementation of the Matrix protocol in Rust (https://ruma.dev/) which went on to become the basis for the official Rust SDK for Matrix.
